Cellaring
While the Rockwell Brown is starting to show its full potential, it will easily cellar for another 15-20 years.
Production
Grapes are from the 3 Hedges Estate Vineyards: Hedges, Bel' Villa and Red Mountain. The wine is 100% barrel aged for an average of 22 months in 70% new oak consisting of 66% French, 22% American, 12% European.
2005 Harvest Season
2005 was a banner year in the vineyards. Mostly even temperatures and little wind and rain during bloom made for nice set. The summer was hot, but not too hot, and typical fall ripening conditions of warm days (80-85) and cool nights (45-50) began in mid-September and continued through October. Our philosophy of picking at optimum flavor maturity made us pick earlier maturing varieties at warmer sites as early as the third week of September and cooler site fruit the last week of October. Another great vintage from Red Mountain!
Proprietors Notes

The 2005 vintage was a marvelous success for Rockwell Brown Wines. Producing only 124 cases of our Bordeaux style blend, we were elated with what we had produced in our very first round of wine from Red Mountain. We received rave reviews and look forward to watching the wine mature into it's true potential. That is if we can resist drinking it all beforehand, as it tastes so good already.
