I went out to the vineyard last week to see how things were looking. I knew we had gotten some hot sun in Seattle, which worried me a little as I saw trees begin to bloom a little early. I also knew it might be my last chance to see our dormant growth status before the buds start to pop in the coming month or two.
No need to worry on Red Mountain. While some folks have had their fans on at night, the plants are holding fast to their winters sleep. I was also struck by just how beautiful the countryside looked at a time that is somewhat quiet on the hill, at least for those whom are compelled to make the drive to find good wine. Most folks see vineyards when they are green and lush, but I would say there is something equally beautiful about seeing the vast difference between the growing season and dormancy.

We are just seeing the little bit of green from our ground cover. Everything is looking nice and clean. Can't wait for some estate fruit this year!
